Type of Hazard
There are five categories that are used to define the intensity of a tropical cyclone. The category is chosen for each cyclone depending on the wind speed.
Category 1- less than 125km
Category 2 - 125-164km these winds are known as destructive winds
Category 3 - 165- 224 km these winds are very destructive and this type of cyclone is known as severe
Category 4 - 225-279km very destructive winds
Category 5 - <280 km extremely destructive winds
